I’m 11 years old my birthday is in Sept, and I will be going into the 7th grade.

Month and year I started Derby:

I started derby in Feb 2010 with my league, but started practices in Nov 2008 with my mom’s league.

Advice for new skaters:

Do the dishes in your skates! Practice in your kitchen, garage, at the park, anywhere. The more you have your skates on the more agility you will have.

What do you see yourself doing in the future:

I will move to the adult leagues and skate my way through collage. I want to attend as many training camps as I can, and bring back to my league all the new tricks I learn. I see myself skating my heart out for the rest on my life, and hopefully making it to Team USA tryouts. Maybe do some reffing or announcing which I am working on now.

What I’d like to work on:

Staying with my wall, track awareness, and communicating more with my team.

What advice do you have for new skaters? Never give up. You may fall and feel defeated, but NEVER EVER EVER GIVE UP!

What do you see yourself doing in the future (derby and non-derby related)? Derby wise- I want to be an Atomic Bombshell on the Minnesota RollerGirls! Non-derby- I want to be a vet because I LOVE animals!

What I’d like to work on: I’d like to work on being a more agile jammer, work on being a bit more aggressive through the pack while I am blocking and having the courage to hit people more!

What I want to tell people about roller derby: I LOVE IT and I hope people can start to understand the sport more. I love Roller Derby. It is my heart! It is a great sport and great community! MNDerbyLOVE!

What advice do you have for new skaters?
Every practice you have to take risks, jumping, blocking, whatever your role, give it your all!
What do you see yourself doing in the future (derby and non-derby related)?
I want to be an artist, my mom says I need to be a Doctor, I plan to skate, maybe one day in the Olympics, that would be EPIC.
What I’d like to work on: My overall skills. I want to continue to improve them and be the best of the best. I like going to the skate park with the big girls after practice and playing on the ramps and inside the bowls. Being more agile makes me a better jammer and better blocker.

What advice do you have for new skaters?

The best advice to give a new skater is do not be afraid to hit someone twice your size. They will get up.

What do you see yourself doing in the future (derby and non-derby related)?

I see myself as a Naptown Siren (NRG). I am also going to become a dermatologist or if derby continues to get bigger- I could be a pro derby girl

What advice do you have for new skaters? Don’t be afraid of taking a hit you’ll keep getting better and better as you go along the way.

What do you see yourself doing in the future (derby and non-derby related)? Playing in AZRD as a TCT and a Surly Gurlies, I also am thinking about wanting to teach Kinder-garden or 2nd grade.

What I’d like to work on: I’d like to work on being a faster jammer and being more of a leader as a pivot.

What do you see yourself doing in the future (derby or non-derby related)? I TRULY would love to play for Team USA. That would be totally awesome. And I want to be a Fashion Designer, maybe design some cool derby attire one day.

What I’d like to work on: Blocking. I’m tiny and sometimes I feel my little body can’t do much. But I’m a learner I can do it if I just put my MIND & BODY into it =)

What advice do you have for new skaters? Really to just go for it. You’ll never know how good you can truly be if you don’t just try. Give it your all, and have fun.

Age and grade in school: 14, 9th, and I’m currently homeschooled (it gives me more time for derby!)

Month & Year Started Derby: I started, oh geez, I think it was September 2010.

What advice do you have for new skaters?: Keep trying! It takes a LONG time, but don’t get stressed out, if every skater quit when they didn’t get something at first, there would be no roller derby. Also, take everything that a skater tells you to heart, no one has bad advise, I learned everything I know from new, old, young, and even some jam skaters have helped. Just stick with it, practice, and consider yourself a sponge, suck up every bit of information you can, from whoever you can.

What do you see yourself doing in the future (derby or non-derby related)?: Being the best skater alive, haha! I’m going to keep working hard to get what I want, which is to be good, purely great at the sport I love. I’ve always said that I want to die when I’m in my 100′s at Roller-Con, and my last words will be “Watch this!!”

What I’d like to work on: Hockey stops! But I’d really like to work on my attitude towards the girls who don’t like me, or think they’re better than me. That’s the hardest part in derby, is getting used to all of the cockiness, and just plain rudeness of some of the girls, even adults who feel threatened by me won’t talk to me.

Lastly, I’d like to say how lucky I am to have found this sport, for younger girls it’s a huge confidence booster! Especially with with our world so concentrated on how you look, or dress. With derby, suddenly it’s not about how you look, or what you’re wearing, it comes down to how you can skate, it’s pure athleticism, and it gives you tools to cope in the real world, too.

Thank you so much to Suzy Shamrock, my derby mentor, and close friend, and to all of the people who’ve helped me get where I am today.

What advice do you have for new skaters?
I think the best thing for new junior derby brats is that you listen to your coach and take in every thing that they have to say because they are experienced skaters. Also try your hardest to perfect skills and practice the things you don’t really know then, soon enough, you will be on you way to becoming a first class skater.

What do you see yourself doing in the future (derby or non-derby related)?
In future my goal is to make the New Zealand Squad and go to the World Cup like my two coaches this year – Axl Slash-r & Solid Sarge. I am hoping to improve my skating all round when they come back from the World Cup with lots of new skills. At present I skate with the over 18s in exhibition bouts as I am more advanced than the other Brats players in our League. I am also the main coach for the Brats, who had their first ever game on 30th October 2011 (It was also the first ever brats game in New Zealand) I am hoping to increase the number of brats in our league in future and find some competition for them in other New Zealand leagues.

What I’d like to work on:
I like to practice making my self faster by timing my myself leaving the jammer line I also like working on my blocking (the senior players hate my seal slaps!). I try to always make my hits count and I like practicing tricks like cool whips or spinning while jumping.

What advice do you have for new junior roller derby skaters?
Always do what scares you, it’s the only way to grow as a skater. Try jamming- scary at first, but over time you become better. Hitting- and getting hit- you learn how to take, and give a hit better with time. Just because it seems frustrating at first don’t give up! Every derby girl goes through it. Even the most experienced players have room for improvement, strive to always do the best you can!

What skills do you like to work on?
I always enjoy working on agility, stamina, juking, and fun tricks like skating sideways and other cool things like that.

What do you see yourself doing in the future (derby or non-derby related)?
I plan on continuing derby throughout high school, and going to college after I graduate. I don’t know what I want to be quite yet…but someday I would like to be on Team U.S.A!

What has roller derby taught you?
Roller derby has taught me many things. How to be confident in myself- not only on the track, but at school, and socially as well. It taught me never to back down as well. Just because someone is better at jamming, or blocking, or getting through the pack- does not mean you give up! It got me to realize that just when you think you can’t do it anymore, you give it your all.
